About Chris Rosenbluth

“My life is a vast and insane legend reaching everywhere without beginning or ending …”

The man behind the Becoming Somebody project, Chris Rosenbluth is a writer and editor from Valley Cottage, New York. He graduated from Syracuse University in December 2004 with degrees in magazine journalism and philosophy. He now lives in Nyack, New York with his girlfriend and a pair of undersized dogs, one a spoiled pekingese named Simon and the other a rascally mutt named Lucy.

After graduation, Chris spent eight months working at a bookstore café before being hired by the National Basketball Association to write and edit content for NBA.com. He spent two years as a news desk editor before resigning to pursue his dream of writing fiction on a full-time basis. He founded BecomingSomebody.com to chronicle the process and share his thoughts as he aimed to publish a short story in a major literary journal by his twenty-fifth birthday, April 20, 2008.

Despite failing to reach his goal — because the publishing industry is harder to crack than scrambled military code — Chris continues to write fiction on his own time and spends the majority of his days watching and reading the news and blogging about politics, or whatever else pops into his head. Perhaps one day he will once again gain dutiful employment.

Chris is the author of several short stories, as well as four short-film scripts and a feature-length screenplay titled National Pastime, a mockumentary about the often ridiculous world of Little League Baseball, which he penned with longtime friend and collaborator Lennon Nersesian. The pair founded Brain Jail Productions in 2005.

Chris enjoys music, getting tattooed, the New York Mets, Esquire magazine, and inspired literature. If he could have a drink with one person, alive or dead, it would be Jack Kerouac, after whom he intends to name his first-born son. Chris can be reached via e-mail at chris@becomingsomebody.com. He will get back to you as quickly as possible. If you offer work or writing opportunities, he will get back to you sooner.
